Networking Tips for Both on and Off the Internet

Do you have a small business or service you want to get out there or are you looking for a service? If you do, a good way to gain information is by networking with and bonding with others who may share the same vision as you. Networking is an easy way and least costly way to advertise your business or service. You can network online and offline as well.

Networking online is a way to reach a broader range of people as the Internet reaches pretty much all corners of the world. There’s also many more routes to network with then you would have doing it offline, but both are necessary to get your company name or just your name out there to others.

Networking the online way provides you with several routes to choose from to gain success within your business or service. You can join a networking community that’s related to your business or service. Put yourself out there by bonding with others and gaining their trust. Participating in these communities is very important because you cannot be seen as easily as you would in a face-to-face discussion. You need to show your trustworthiness through your words and not through body language or facial expressions.

Start blogging on your website, or if you don’t have a site, just start a blog. When you gain a good audience with your blog, you can start sharing links with other bloggers. Pretty soon you’ll have a nice group of people to network with and share information.

Along with the blogging, you can also start a newsletter on your site and gain a database of people to share whatever products you might want to sell or service you may have to offer. The newsletters sent to people’s emails, can provide information about your service or special discounts or sales on your products.

Check out other websites on the same line as yours. You can ask to share links with them. If they agree to it, they can recommend others to your site and you would gain more readers while you return the favor and recommend theirs as well. The more favors you do, the more favors they do for you.

Networking offline has the personal touch to it. This is the choice to make if you want to target your business or service locally. People still need to be able to trust you in order to share information or recommend you to others. You can join a local organization. They usually have some resources for you to utilize and you sound more professional if they find out you belong to an organization.

Don’t be afraid to take your business to trade shows and business expos. You can be there, or someone representing you, explaining your business and what it’s all about and hand out free little gifts to the passersby. A handshake and a smile from you can go a long way in developing trust among others.

Sometimes just becoming a regular to the local coffee shop or deli can be a good way to network. You never know who you’ll end up talking to while enjoying a savory cup of coffee or sandwich. It may be someone who knows someone you could get in contact with or it may be a person in need of a service that you’re offering. Things can happen in the oddest places.

Don’t leave any stone unturned when looking for ways to network with other people. Word of mouth campaigns start somewhere and they have to continue somehow, so get out there and network with people to keep that chain going.
